It’s Monday……yay? Here’s to hoping that we all have productive weeks at work/school/home! I do know that it will be a good week on the blog, because I finally *kinda* got my act together. Unfortunately, I did decide that I’m going to be cutting back my blogging schedule a bit (from six days to four.) I realized that I literally spend all of my time out of work, working on the blog and I think it’s led to a little bit of blogger burnout. Lately, I’ve been rocking chipped nail polish, skipping blog posts, and I haven’t wanted to buy any new polish in a while. But, after this weekend of planning things out I feel more optimistic, so yeah……totally did not mean for this to get rant-y….uhmm, I’m back with more Model City Polish swatches for you guys!
*All swatches shown with one coat of Glossy Glam.
First up in this post is Aqua Aura! This polish has a clear base that is packed full of teal and gold, holo micro glitters. I used three coats of this on its own for these swatches, but you could definitely layer this over another polish. The formula was a bit thick, but it kept the glitters well suspended so no fishing was required.
When I first applied this polish, I thought it was just a teal glitter polish but the addition of the gold glitters makes this really lovely! I do have a love hate relationship with micro glitters though. On one hand (hehe puns,) I love how sparkly they are but they tend to get thick on the nail after building them up to opacity on their own and they never truly reach full opacity. With that being said, I am stoked to have this in my collection but I’ll probably layer it over another polish in the future. I can’t wait to use this in some ocean themed nail art!
Next up is Cool Waters!
This polish is a teal based glitter jelly that is filled with green (according to her Etsy, they’re actually yellow, whoops,) blue, and holo glitters. This is another really glitter packed, but the formula was really easy to work with and there was no fishing required. I’m showing you guys three coats with topcoat because this did dry down gritty.
I hate to admit that I wasn’t really all that impressed with this polish in the bottle, but holy crap. This polish is stunning! The teal color is so vibrant and it plays so well with the blue and yellow glitters. And there’s holo micro glitters. I mean really? I’m just going to cut myself off before I continue to ramble, but wow, I will never under estimate a polish from this brand again!
Now onto the nail art!
I know I mentioned ocean nail art above, but you guys should know be now that I will always find a way to sneak some florals up in here 😛 This particular look was inspired by this Donald Sultan painting!
- Start with three coats of Aqua Aura.
- Add a layer of Glossy Glam to smooth the surface.
- Paint the flowers on with acrylic paint and a detail brush (I’ve really been digging my Pure Color Glamor #1!)
- Clean up.
- Apply another layer of Glossy Glam.
Last up is some water-y nail art!
Cool Waters? Waves? Yeah, Marisa was feeling really creative while doing these nails….also, third person is oddly fun and weird at the same time, not too sure how I feel about that. Anywho, this look was inspired by this illustration from alphawham!
- Start with three coats of Cool Waters.
- Apply a layer of Glossy Glam for a smooth surface.
- Add the waves on with acrylic paint and a detail brush.

Here are some bottle macros:
I’m seriously kicking myself (okay, not really, but you get the point…) for not trying this brand sooner. I’ve tried six of the seven polishes that I purchased and I’ve been super happy with the majority of them (hashtag, yes that was totally a spoiler for next week’s post.) But dang, go check this brand out! Both of these are still available for purchasing too! Aqua Aura retails for $8.50 while Cool Waters is $9. Check out the links below for more information:
