It’s Monday….woo? Hopefully you guys are already to take on your week and if you aren’t, maybe some MidWest Lacquer swatches will help put a smile on your face? Let’s get right to it!
*All swatches shown with one coat of Rica’s Glossy Glam
First up in today’s post is Happy Holodays which is a bright, red holo polish! My photos are showing you guys three coats plus topcoat. Unfortunately, this polish isn’t available for purchase since it was a Black Friday sale exclusive (or at least I think that’s what it was..,) but there’s always the possibility that you might find it in a destash or blog sale.
I have to say that I’m kind of surprised at how much I like this. Red polish and holos are just not my thing, so I figured that combining the two would be an automatic lose for me, but this polish is stunning! The color is vibrant and the holo isn’t overpowering. My only critique would be that it applies a little sheer because it’s more jelly-like (hence the three coats,) but each coat dried fairly quickly so it isn’t even really that big of a deal.
Next up is Click Three Times!
Next up, we have a polish that you can actually purchase! Yay haha! Click Three Times is a deep red polish will a scattered holo sparkle. Just like the above polish, I used three coats for these photos.
This is another really lovely polish! It looks so classy! When I do wear red polish, I generally gravitate more towards deeper reds like this so I’m really happy to have this beauty in my collection.
Now it’s time for some nail art!
I’ve had these swatches done for probably about two weeks now, and I’m just realizing that this kind of looks like a lady bug…..wow….I could have sworn it reminded me of an animal (read: bug,) but couldn’t remember what one. Comic sans gold star for me! Anywho, this design was inspired by this pattern by Ulrika Gyllstad!
- Start with three coats of Happy Holodays.
- Add a layer of Glossy Glam.
- Paint the design on with acrylic paint and a detail brush.
- Clean up.
- Finish with another layer of Glossy Glam.
Last up is the look done with Click Three Times!
Oh look, flower-y looking things! I bet you all didn’t see that coming ;P This design was inspired by this set of Japanese Chiyo-gami papers!
- Start with three coats of Click Three Times.
- Apply a layer of Glossy Glam.
- Pant on the design with acrylic paint and a detail brush. Start with the bigger circles and then go back in with the lighter details.
- Clean up.
- Add another layer of Glossy Glam.
Here’s some bottle macros:
Like I said above, Happy Holodays was a limited edition polish that was only available (I believe) when purchasing during her Black Friday sale (yeah, it’s really taken me that long to show these off…..sad, right?) But you never know when you might come across something in a blog sale. Click Three Times is currently being sold in her shop and it retails for $5.25 for a 8mL bottle or $8.50 for a 15mL bottle. If you’re interested in trying this brand but have been hesitant to take the plunge, I definitely recommend trying out some of the “mini” sized polishes. My bottle of Happy Holodays is one of the 8mL bottles, and I had no issues with application and I bet I can get a few full manicures out of it. You can try out more colors too! 😛 Make sure to check out the following links for more information:
