I’m back with another post for you guys! If you’ve been following the blog since the early days, you might have seen some reviews I did of some polishes from the indie brand, Live Life Polished (here, here, and here). If not, it’s alright, those beginning swatch photos are kind of scary so I don’t blame you haha. But I have new polishes to show you so read on for some more pretty polishes and better swatches 😀
*All swatches shown with 1 coat of HK Girl
I’m going to start today’s post off with the polish, Strawberry Wine!
Strawberry Wine is a pink creme polish that took two coats to be opaque. The polish is a little slow to self-level but it dried quickly and I was really happy with the coverage.
Now, this isn’t just your normal pink creme polish though. This polish has some really cool, darker pink (or red) micro glitters in it (or at least I think they’re micro glitters) and iridescent sparkles in it that give the polish an almost speckled look. I’m not normally a fan of pink polishes but I think this will be a great base for some nail art!
I also took some macro shots of the polish on my nail. Let me know your thoughts on these shots and whether or not I should include them in future reviews!
Next up is, Dancing In The Moonlight!
Dancing In The Moonlight is a black based polish that is filled with pink, blue, and purple glitters. This polish took 3 coats to reach this opacity but I know other people swatching these polishes got this opaque in 2. I’m going to talk about the formula of this one down at the bottom of the post.
I think this is a fun polish and can definitely see it as a base for some nail art! The glitters in this are pretty and it really does have that summer-y, night time feel to it.
Next up is Summer Fling!
Summer Fling is the thermal polish of the collection! This polish has pink, light blue, and dark blue glitters in a radiant orchid like base while warm. When cold this polish is a fun purple color! I’m showing you guys 3 coats on it’s own.
This is another polish where I’m going to talk about the formula later but next time I wear this, I think I might try layering it only because the polish is really glitter packed that it can look a little lumpy. The color shift with this polish is really fun and I’m a little upset it’s been so hot here lately because the polish was always in the warm state for me haha!
I tried capturing the color shift but the minute I pulled my fingers out of my ice cup (yes, you read that right) it started going back to it’s warm state. I think the change is most evident in the macro photos.
Next up is Summer Sorbet!
I’m showing you guys one coat of Summer Sorbet over one coat of Zoya’s Ling. This glitter topper is filled with baby pink and blue, matte glitters. The formula on this, was really great in my opinion. I prefer my glitter polishes to have a lot of glitter and I was able to get this much glitter on the brush with absolutely no fishing!
Summer Sorbet is one of my favorites from this collection and I was sad that I wore this combo in the beginning of my swatch session because I wanted to wear this longer! The glitters do remind me of a baby shower but I still think it’s a great polish.
And last up is Deep Down Under!
This is my favorite polish from the collection! Deep Down Under is a blue grey polish that is filled with teal glitters and there’s even a little shimmer in there. This is 2 coats on it’s own and again I’m going to comment about formula below.
I am in love with the colors of this polish! It reminds me of a shark for some reason but you can really get that feel of being under water. If you only get one polish from this release, I suggest you get this one because it’s beautiful!
And here are some more macros!
Now, I had some difficulties with applying some of the polishes, mainly Dancing In The Moonlight, Summer Fling, and Deep Down Under. These polishes were really thick and started to get clumpy by the time I had gotten to my pinky finger. (Deep Down Under was the least problematic). I personally think it’s a combination of the mini bottles, the fact that it’s been like 85+ degrees here almost everyday this week and it’s causing most of my polishes to apply weirdly, and that the glitter polishes have a lot of glitter in them. But I emailed Tammy about this, and she said that she had had no issues with her mini bottles and that all the other bloggers/swatchers that swatched these polishes had no issues with the formula of the full-sized bottles. I want to keep things 100% honest here so that’s why I mentioned my experience with the formula but I think if you order the full sized bottles that you should be fine based on what I’m hearing from everyone else.
Now, if you’re interested in in purchasing any of these. Each full sized bottle will be $7 each except for Summer Fling which will be $8 a bottle. The full collection (which has 8 polishes) will be $50 during pre-sale and $56 after pre-sale. The mini set is selling for $25. 8 polishes from $50, that’s a good deal! For me, I think it’s a really unique take on a summer collection and I don’t mind dealing with the formula because I really like some of the polishes. But I’m going to suggest just skipping the minis and going for the full-sized as it seems their formula is better. Here are some links to her sites:
