I mentioned earlier to check back for a Blogger Takeover post, and here it is! I’m super stoked about this post, because Lisa from Cosmetic Sanctuary is posting today! I’m always in awe of her swatches and photos, so I feel honored that she wanted to partake in my little feature series 😀 Enough of my rambles though, go enjoy the nails!
Hey everyone! Very excited and honored to have been invited to participate in a Blogger Takeover here at Polish Those Nails! I’ve always loved Marisa’s nail art, so I decided to do a nail art look (which I rarely do nail art) for this post.
I’m not as talented when it comes to nail art as Marisa is, and I certainly can’t freehand anything, so I grabbed my nail vinyls and cosmetic sponges for this one. I did a Mermaid Scale Gradient design, and took some step by step photos for you.
Start off with a nice white base on your nails. I picked Nicole by OPI Yoga-Then-Yogurt because I wanted a white that wasn’t too blinding, but still looked like a clean base.
I covered the cuticle and skin surrounding my nail with a liquid latex barrier so that when I’m done I can just peel is up and then possibly clean up some edges. I used Glisten & Glow CTRL-ALT-DEL as my liquid latex.
Then I grabbed my nail vinyls I bought from What’s Up Nails! I usually lift the vinyl off the sheet and then use a piece of wax paper to press the vinyl into and lift again in order to remove all the small scale cutout pieces.
Once I’ve removed all the scales I need to remove, I place the vinyl over the nail.
I’m doing a gradient over the vinyl, so I got my latex free cosmetic wedge and Zoya Jace, Cecilia & Talia! You can do this with a wide assortment of shades, but I decided on green to blue. Then I sponge the colors over the white base and nail vinyl.
Here is the final look after removing the latex. Not perfect – but not bad for me. Just need a little cleanup around the cuticle.
Thank you again Marisa for having me on your blog today for Blogger Takeover! Hope you all have a wonderful day!
